The Jewish community in Zhytomyr, Ukraine, is mourning the loss of Andrei Korovsky, a devoted teacher at the “Or Avner – Chabad” school for over 20 years. Andrei, who was drafted into a drone unit at the start of the war against Russia, was injured several months ago but chose to return to combat despite his wounds.

Though not Jewish himself, Andrei was deeply embraced by the community for his unwavering commitment to education and his warm presence.

“Andrei was one of our most veteran teachers at the school,” said Rabbi Shlomo Wilhelm, Chabad emissary and rabbi of Zhytomyr and Western Ukraine. “In his work, he oversaw all computer-based learning. He was a computer teacher, programmer, and deeply passionate about the field, including printing materials and design.”
