The United Arab Emirates (UAE) officially comfirms that the murderers of Chabad Shliach Rabbi Tzvi Kogan Hy”d will face the death penalty. Three Uzbek nationals were found guilty of murdering the Chabad emissary in November 2024.
A co-conspirator who aided in the attack received a life sentence and will be deported from the country.
Rabbi Kogan was kidnapped and killed in November 2024 by three Muslim men from Uzbekistan—Olimboy Tohirovich, 28, Makhmudjon Abdurakhim, 28, and 33-year-old Azizbek Kamilovich.

Rabbi Kogan went missing for three days, beginning November 21, before he was found murdered.
The investigation moved swiftly. On November 24, the UAE Ministry of Interior announced that the three suspects had been captured in Istanbul, Turkey, in a covert international operation. Acting on a request from the UAE, Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization and Istanbul police apprehended them as they attempted to leave the airport by taxi.
They were promptly extradited back to the UAE.
The trial that followed was watched closely, with many expecting the death penalty for the horrific crime.
Rabbi Kogan’s evil murder was widely condemned by leaders worldwide, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who vowed that all means would be used to bring the killers, and “those who dispatched them”, to justice.
The United States condemned the crime, stating that it was “a horrific crime against all those who stand for peace, tolerance, and coexistence” and that “those who carried out this crime, and anyone supporting them, must be held fully accountable.”
Moldova called it “an act of antisemitism”.
