Defense Minister Yisrael Katz is set to depart for Washington, DC, tonight for an official visit, according to a statement released by his office Wednesday.
While in the US capital, Katz is scheduled to meet with Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and additional senior American officials.
“During his visit, the defense minister will discuss a series of security and political issues with his counterpart, foremost among them Iran and other regional threats, procurement matters, and additional strategic cooperation,” his office said in a statement.
Accompanying Katz on the visit are several senior defense officials, including Defense Ministry Director General Amir Baram, outgoing IDF Operations Directorate head Maj. Gen. Oded Basiuk, Israel’s military attaché in Washington Maj. Gen. Hidai Zilberman, and Katz’s military secretary Brig. Gen. Guy Markizeno.
“The defense minister will continue to closely monitor security developments in Syria throughout his visit,” the statement added.
