A group of yeshiva boys in Switzerland endured a terrifying ordeal on Shabbos after being threatened by an Arab man outside Lucerne train station. According to the boys, the attacker approached them while they were walking and pointed a knife at one of them. Despite police arriving on the scene, no arrest was made. The boys have been instructed to file a formal complaint at the station.
The frightening incident took place around 8:30 p.m. local time. About ten bochurim—some of them from Eretz Yisroel—were walking near the Lucerne station when they were confronted by a man who asked if they were Jewish. He then spat at them and screamed, “Kill all the Jews.”
One of the boys later described what happened in a personal status message, shared with B’chadrei Charedim: “We tried to get away from him, but he wouldn’t let go and at one point he pulled a knife out at us and pressed it to the stomach of one of my friends.” Several bystanders reportedly stepped in, prompting the attacker to flee.
Swiss police eventually responded to the scene, but according to the boys, they did not detain the suspect. Even though there was evidence of the incident, the police refrained from taking decisive action. Since the incident occurred on Shabbos, the boys were unable to sign a complaint at that time. They are now being asked to return on Monday to submit a formal report, as Swiss law enforcement typically does not process such cases on Sundays except in emergencies.
