Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam announced that the government has directed the Lebanese Armed Forces to create a plan to centralize all weapons under state authority by the end of 2025. This move would compel Hezbollah and other armed factions to hand over their weapons.
Reports from Beirut earlier indicated that tonight’s cabinet session would formally adopt a US-backed proposal calling for the disarmament of Hezbollah.
However, Salam clarified that the matter has been deferred and will instead be addressed at Thursday’s upcoming cabinet meeting.
