Nearly two years after he was murdered and taken into Gaza, slain hostage Idan Shtivi Hy’d was brought to burial today in central Israel. His body was recovered last week by IDF forces.
“Idan had a pure heart, he always saw others and cared for the weaker elements of society,” his mother, Danit, said at the funeral. “He was full of generosity, so sensitive and loving. He was taken from the world at his peak. Idani, you are a child of God… I’m sorry I couldn’t watch over you and protect you.”
The funeral took place in Kfar Ma’as, with Israelis lining the procession route, holding flags and signs that read “Sorry.”
Idan was murdered at the Nova music festival on October 7, 2023. His body was abducted to Gaza and recovered last week by IDF troops, along with the body of Ilan Weiss, who is being buried today in Kibbutz Be’eri.
