A man was arrested Sunday after storming through a memorial for Charlie Kirk at Turning Point USA’s headquarters, damaging flowers and other tributes before being tackled by bystanders, police said.
According to a photographer at the scene, the suspect traveled about 15 yards through the memorial, knocking over flowers, vases, flags and balloons. Witnesses quickly took him to the ground and held him until officers arrived.
Police said: “A man is in custody after trespassing onto the grounds of a private business and destroying a community memorial.”
They added: “Officers were directed to a man who was seen damaging a community memorial in front of a business near 48th Street and Beverly Road. Officers were in the area to assist with traffic control due to a large community presence in the area following recent events.”
“The man, later identified as 19-year-old Ryder Corral, was detained by witnesses until he was taken into custody by responding officers. There are no serious injuries to report,” the department said.
Authorities said Corral will be booked on multiple charges, including criminal damage and disorderly conduct.
