Mekubal Rav Dovid Batzri Zt”l Niftar on Erev Sukkos — Family Sits Shiva for Less Than Two Hours

Klal Yisroel is in mourning following the sudden petirah of the Zkan HaMekubalim, Hagaon Hatzaddik Rav Dovid Shalom Batzri zt”l, Rosh Yeshivas Hashalom in Yerushalayim, who was niftar this morning, Erev Sukkos, at the age of 85.

Despite the erev Yom Tov rush, many people escorted the Mekubal at his Levaya esrlier.

Hespeidim were delivered by Rav Reuven Elbaz, Rosh Yeshivas Ohr Hachaim; Rishon LeTzion Rav Dovid Yosef; Rav Binyamin Shmueli, Rosh Yeshivas Nahar Shalom; and the Mekubal Rav Yaakov Ades, among others.

The levayah then proceeded to the Sanhedria cemetery, where Rav Batzri was buried next to his wife, Rebbetzin Tzipora a”h.

The Rebbetzin was niftar on Erev Pesach, and the family could not sit shiva because Yom Tov began. Now the same thing has happened with the Mskubal on Erev Sukkos. With Yom Tov canceling the shiva, the family sat for less than two hours.
