Twenty-four hours after a suspicious envelope containing white powder was delivered to the office of Religious Affairs Minister Michael Malkieli, Beleaz News has obtained an exclusive photo showing his Knesset office still cordoned off.

In an exclusive conversation with Belaaz, Minister Malkieli’s assistant shared that the envelope arrived via mail and was sent for testing to determine if the substance is biological or harmless, such as flour. The Israel Police and Shin Bet are actively investigating the envelope’s source which was also sent to several other Knesset Members.

Following the incident, Malkieli’s office was sealed, a fire truck was dispatched, and the surrounding area was blocked off. An aide disclosed to Belaaz that the envelope contained threats against the minister and his family, including personal details, indicating a targeted attack.

A government source who spoke to Belaaz criticized the Shin Bet, noting that for months, most coalition members have received similar suspicious envelopes without any resolution. “Maybe they’re waiting for a minister or MK to be harmed before they investigate properly,” the source remarked.

Beleaz News has also learned that Malkieli, who typically goes around without security, may now be assigned a protection detail by the Shin Bet’s “Magen” unit to ensure his safety.
