A miracle took place in Metula, a town in northern Israel located right near the border with Lebanon:
During Chanukah, Rabbi Moshe Sasonkin, the Chabad Shliach in Metula, was informed by a military official who told him that his name and personal details were included in a document found by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in a Hezbollah underground bunker in the village of Kila, southern Lebanon. It was revealed that the Hezbollah terror organization had planned to use his home as a launch point for a massive terrorist attack targeting northern Israeli towns, starting with Metula and expanding to other towns in the region.

In an interview with Israeli media, Rabbi Sasonkin shared the chilling details: “Long before the terror attack on Simchas Torah, a senior reservist officer, a local resident who regularly studied Torah with us, repeatedly expressed concern about the security situation in the area. He warned me that Hezbollah terrorists could breach the fence at any moment, easily capture Metula, and there wouldn’t be enough time to respond. He feared we could face a hostage situation or something worse.”
Rabbi Sasonkin reflected that, while the officer might not have known the full extent of Hezbollah’s preparedness, his warnings made the discovery less surprising when it was revealed how well-trained and ready the terrorists were for such an attack r”l.
It wasn’t until this past Chanukah, however, that Rabbi Sasonkin learned the full extent of the danger. “A senior official told me that after the IDF entered Kila, they uncovered a document containing detailed plans for a massacre similar to the one on October 7th, which, B’Chasdei Shamayim, was ultimately prevented,” Rabbi Sasonkin said.
Among the intelligence found in Hezbollah’s underground bunkers, Rabbi Sasonkin revealed, was a list of important people in Metula, with his own home clearly marked on the terrorists’ maps. The document even contained a detailed description of his car, underscoring the level of preparation that had gone into the planned attack.
