The first wave of the hostages have been released and reunited with their family members. First, Red Cross officials met with Hamas terrorists and transferred the three hostages, who walked on their own, to a designated point where they were greeted by IDF representatives who brought them into Israel.

Then, the three female hostages, Roni Gonen, Emily Damari, and Doron Steinbrecher, have arrived at a reception center in Kibbutz Re’im, where they met with their mothers and after they underwent medical checks at the Tel Hashomer hospital where they met with their families.

Prime Minister Netanyahu closely followed the release process and was updated as the hostages crossed into Israeli territory. He stated that Israel will continue to work towards the release of the remaining hostages.

Currently, Hamas holds 94 hostages, some of whom are expected to be freed in future phases of the ongoing deal.
