Woodbourne, NY – A family narrowly escaped disaster on Sunday evening, August 10, at around 7:30 PM, when a speeding car veered into oncoming traffic on Route 52, just outside Woodbourne in upstate New York. The incident, which could have ended in tragedy, has prompted a heartfelt plea for safer driving.
The driver’s wife, speaking to Belaaz, shared the harrowing experience with us, saying, “We almost didn’t make it home. Take it slow!!” She recounted the terrifying moment when her family was driving down Route 52 after a busy visiting day at their daughter’s camp. They were on their way to drop off their son at his camp when the incident occurred.
“We were driving down Route 52, leaving Woodbourne, and traffic coming into Woodbourne was heavy,” She told us. “I noticed a car driving right at us, in our lane, cutting off a whole line of cars—going for sure 65-70 MPH. I screamed, and my husband quickly swerved onto the shoulder.”
“My husband said if not for me screaming, he wouldn’t have noticed how the car was coming so fast right at us,” she added.
The reckless driver nearly hit another car as well.
She urged drivers: “Speeding can be deadly. Take it slow on busy roads. Obey speed limits. Don’t risk lives just to rush.”
Her plea serves as a stark reminder to drive safely.
