Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu spoke by phone with President Donald Trump last Tuesday, briefing him on a planned strike against Hamas operatives in Qatar, three senior Israeli officials told Channel 12 on Monday. The conversation took place just hours before Israeli forces fired missiles at a Hamas compound in Doha, according to the report.

Officials said Netanyahu personally initiated the call to Trump.

While the White House has insisted it learned of the impending Israeli strike through U.S. military channels, and Trump has claimed he received no direct warning, seven senior Israeli sources countered that advance notice was indeed provided.

Three of those officials stressed that Trump was informed before Israeli jets launched the ballistic missiles, leaving sufficient time to cancel the mission if Washington had objected. They emphasized, “Israel would not have attacked if it believed Trump was opposed.”

The strike on Hamas leaders in Doha has strained ties between the U.S. and Qatar and caused public friction between Washington and Jerusalem.

According to Channel 12, Netanyahu phoned Trump at about 8 a.m. in Washington, 3 p.m. in Israel, and the first reports of explosions in Doha surfaced roughly 50 minutes later. “Trump knew about the attack before the missiles were launched. First, there was a dialogue at the political level between Netanyahu and Trump and then through military channels. Trump did not say no,” one senior official said.

Another Israeli source said: “If Trump wanted to stop it, he would have stopped it. In fact, he didn’t stop it.”
