Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is slated to meet with US President Donald Trump in Washington this Wednesday, the Prime Minister’s office said Saturday night.
The agenda for their discussions is expected to center on the ongoing negotiations with Iran.
According to a statement from his office, “The Prime Minister believes any negotiations must include limitations on ballistic missiles and a halting of the support for the Iranian axis.”
Saturday morning saw US envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner touring the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln.
Admiral Brad Cooper, who leads US Central Command, invited the delegation as a gesture of gratitude toward American forces deployed in the area. The stop came on the heels of indirect negotiations in Oman, which Trump labeled “very good talks,” adding that Iran now seems eager to finalize an agreement.
Earlier that same day, Iran’s foreign minister dismissed Israel’s push to restrict Tehran’s missile program, asserting that the matter is not open for discussion.
He emphasized, “This is a defensive matter. No external country will deal with it.”
Araghchi further noted that Iran will not consider a full halt to uranium enrichment, though he signaled Tehran’s willingness to negotiate terms that could meet mutual expectations. He reiterated that “The level of uranium enrichment is based on our needs, and the enriched uranium will not leave Iran.”
