Following reports that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu missed the weekly cabinet meeting Sunday, his office confirmed that he is unwell and will be working from home for the next three days.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Netanyahu began feeling ill overnight and was examined at his residence by Dr. Alon Hershko, head of the internal medicine department at Hadassah University Hospital – Ein Kerem.

Dr. Hershko diagnosed the prime minister with intestinal inflammation caused by eating spoiled food.

The PMO reported that Netanyahu’s condition is stable. He is receiving intravenous fluids to treat dehydration caused by the illness.

“In accordance with his doctors’ instructions, the prime minister will rest at home for the next three days and will conduct state affairs from there,” the PMO said.

Netanyahu, 75, has experienced a series of health issues in recent years. In late December, he underwent abdominal surgery, and in March 2024, he had a hernia operation. That same month, he missed several days of official duties due to the flu.

Back in 2023, Netanyahu had surgery to implant a pacemaker after suffering a transient heart block. Just a week earlier, he had been hospitalized for what was initially described as dehydration, though doctors later revealed a longstanding heart conduction disorder.

The most recent public medical report, released in January 2023, stated that Netanyahu was in a “completely normal state of health,” that his pacemaker was functioning properly, and that there were no signs of arrhythmia or other concerning conditions.
