Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said in a brief video statement that Israel is “on the brink of a very big achievement,” expressing hope that all hostages held in Gaza could be returned within days.

“It’s still not final. We are working hard on it,” he said. “I hope that, with G-d’s help, in the coming days, even during the Sukkot holiday, we will be able to announce the return of all the hostages — the living and the slain — in one go, with the IDF still deployed deep in Gaza.” Sukkos begins Monday evening.

Netanyahu criticized senior officials who had claimed it would be impossible to secure the hostages’ return without a full withdrawal from Gaza. He emphasized that Israel has already brought back 207 hostages and vowed not to give up on the rest or on Israel’s military objectives.

The prime minister said he coordinated closely with U.S. President Donald Trump on “a diplomatic move that turned the situation on its head.” He added, “Instead of Israel being isolated, Hamas will be isolated.”

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump shared a photo from a Motzoei Shabbos rally at Hostages Square in Tel Aviv, calling on Israel’s government to finalize his proposal to end the Gaza war and bring home all remaining hostages. The image, taken from above, shows a large crowd holding a banner reading, “It’s now or never.”

Trump has previously referenced the hostage rallies, including during the September 29 White House event where he unveiled his Gaza peace plan. He pointed to the strong public support in Israel for a deal that would secure the hostages’ release and end the fighting. Trump’s growing grasp of Israel’s internal politics has allowed him to increase pressure on Netanyahu to accept the agreement — even as it puts Netanyahu at odds with his far-right coalition partners who seek to continue the war and retain control over Gaza.

Under the first stage of the emerging agreement, Netanyahu explained, all hostages would be freed and the IDF would redeploy to maintain oversight of Gaza.

An Israeli delegation headed by Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer will travel to Egypt on Monday for negotiations. The team includes government hostage envoy Gal Hirsch, Netanyahu’s foreign policy adviser Ophir Falk, a senior Shin Bet official known as “Mem,” and a senior Mossad official known as “Dalet,” alongside staff from the Mossad, IDF, and Shin Bet.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry confirmed that both Israeli and Hamas delegations will meet in Cairo to finalize details of the exchange, the release of all Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners, as part of Trump’s plan to end the Gaza war and ease civilian suffering.

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee posted on X that he is praying “ALL hostages are released immediately & the savages of Hamas take Donald Trump seriously & lay down their weapons.”
