A severe security scandal is unfolding in Israel, involving the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The Israeli media has reported over the past 24 hours on a serious security breach involving employees in the Prime Minister’s office, suspected of leaking classified information contrary to protocol

Details remain mostly under a court-imposed gag order, but reports suggest that an employee in the Prime Minister’s Office, lacking proper security clearance, accessed sensitive documents and leaked them to international media

The employee, who reportedly handled communications related to military and security matters, is suspected of leaking documents and plans to bolster support for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s military actions in Gaza, specifically concerning the Philadelphi Route, which sparked widespread controversy.

According to information obtained by Belaaz, and still under gag order in Israel, the employee was detained alongside an Israeli military officer. Senior officials in the Prime Minister’s Office have since consulted legal advisors on the matter.

Earlier today, the Prime Minister’s Office released a statement calling for the immediate lifting of the gag order, stating: “Prime Minister Netanyahu demands the immediate removal of the publication ban on this so-called ‘the Classified Scandal’” Netanyahu’s office further explained, “The ongoing secrecy serves as a cover for deliberate and malicious defamation against the Prime Minister’s Office.”
