Republican firebrand Inna Vernikov left the NYC City Council’s Women’s Caucus Friday, accusing the body of lawmakers of not condeming antisemitism, especially Hamas terrorists, and not issuing any statements of support to Israeli and Israeli-American hostages, who have endured 16 months of cruelty at the hands of terrorists.
“It’s inconceivable for me to remain part of a body of women that refuses not only to come together to condemn terrorists, but also refuses to give any statement of support to the young hostages who were released amid terrifying images of masked jihadis with weapons drawn,” Vernikov said in a statement shared with Belaaz on Monday. “It’s unfortunate that the caucus is, in a way, held hostage by its most ideologically extreme members – even simple statements are too ‘controversial’ for them to give.”
Vernikov has repeatedly called on the leadership of the caucus to issue statements in support of the hostages and in condemnation of Hamas. Vernikov has voiced sharp criticism for the Caucus’ far-left gender politics as well.
