Rose Girone, who suffered in a Nazi concentration camp, has passed away peacefully this week from natural causes at age 113.
She reportedly was the oldest known living Holocaust survivor.
Her daughter, Reha Bennicasa— also a survivor of the Holocaust—- confirmed the death at a nursing home in Bellmore, N.Y.
She was born Rose Raubvogel in 1912 in southeastern Poland, then part of Russia.
When she was nine months pregnant, her husband, Julius Mannheim, was deported to the notorious Buchenwald concentration camp in central Germany.
The Nazis waited until she gave birth, then deported both the mother and baby.
“I could not name her what I wanted – Hitler had a list of names prepared for Jewish children and this was the only one I liked,so I named her that,” Girone said in an interview.
