Mrs. Adele Samuelsen A”h, recognized as the oldest woman in Israel, passed away on Shabbos at the age of 111. A longtime resident of Moshav Mikhmoret, she was admired for her remarkable longevity, strength of spirit, and devotion to her family. Her son-in-law is Harav Yaakov Drutman, Rosh Kollel and dayan in Netivot.

Adele was born in October 1914 in Johannesburg, South Africa, as the eldest of seven siblings. In 1945, she married Yechezkel (Skea) Samuelson, and together they raised two daughters, Ilana Gorfil and Gail Drutman.

In 1979, the Samuelson family made aliyah to Israel, settling in Moshav Mikhmoret, north of Netanya. Despite relocating, Adele maintained a deep connection with her family in South Africa and traveled back frequently to visit them. Her final trip, in her mid-90s, was to celebrate what would have been her late sister’s 98th birthday.

In October 2024, Adele celebrated her 110th birthday surrounded by generations of descendants. She is survived by twelve grandchildren, as well as numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
