Outgoing US Antisemitism Envoy Deborah Lipstadt wished her nominated successor Rabbi Yehudah Kaploun success and said she’s looking forward to working with him in a Wednesday address at a Holocaust Remembrance Day dinner in Washington DC, Belaaz has learned.
Lipstadt, who was appointed by former President Joe Biden, said in her keynote address at the Holocaust Museum that antisemitism, particularly on college campuses, is a non-partisan issue, and had thus invited Kaploun to attend, sources who attended the private event say.
Many other prominent Democrats expressed their best wishes to Kaploun at the dinner as well, including former Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff and former Congressman Ted Deutsch. The ADL’s Abe Foxman did so too.
Kaploun, who was nominated by President Donald Trump on Erev Pesach to the position, was in Washington to begin preparation for his Senate confirmation hearing, sources told Belaaz.
