An air traffic controller at Paris’s Charles de Gaulle Airport transmitted the phrase “free Palestine” over the radio to the pilots of an El Al flight just moments after it departed Monday, according to the airline.
El Al reported that it has been in touch with Israel’s Civil Aviation Authority about what it called an “unprofessional and inappropriate” act, warning that any departure from standard radio procedures during takeoff could lead to serious safety risks.
The airline said the Civil Aviation Authority is coordinating with its French counterparts to address the matter.
“El Al will continue to fly around the world with the Israeli flag proudly on the aircraft’s tail, while ensuring professionalism and the safety and security of passengers and crew,” the company stated.
