Forces from the Yerushalayim Yasam, the Israel Police Special Patrol Unit, detained a Palestinian Arab man who was planning a terror attack in the capital after he raised suspicion while walking on the street. It was later determined that he had entered Israel illegally.

When the officers searched him, they discovered a black kipa in his pocket. Since the suspect could not provide a reasonable explanation for why he had the Jewish religious item, he was taken to the Shalem Station of the Jerusalem District Police for questioning.

Investigators determined that the suspect had crossed into Israeli territory from Judea and Samaria through the fence near a-Ram, just north of Yerushalayim.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed that he had intended to steal a soldier’s weapon and carry out a terror attack. Police stated that the alertness of the officers successfully prevented the planned attack.
