The Prime Minister’s office has been in turmoil for several months following a case involving the transfer of classified information. Last week, suspicions arose that some of the individuals employed as spokespersons allegedly also worked simultaneously for the Qatari government.
Qatar, a country that supports and hosts leader of the terrorist organization Hamas, has been working for years with PR firms to improve its image and gain worldwide recognition.
As part of this effort, several members of Netanyahu’s office were reportedly hired to improve Qatar’s standing, including Netanyahu’s political spokesperson Yonatan Urich, election consultant Israel Einharon, and Eli Feldstein, who was arrested and imprisoned for leaking a classified document to a newspaper in Germany.
On Saturday, the Shin Bet has announced that it has begun investigating the matter to determine whether Netanyahu’s advisors transferred state secrets to other countries, including to those that support terrorism.
