Rabbi Yoshiyahu Pinto, known for his connections with American celebrities, met with rapper Kanye West Thursday.

Belaaz is told that the meeting took place this morning at Rabbi Pinto’s home in Manhattan.

For several years, West has made Antisemitic comments, including expressing admiration for Adolf Hitler and blaming Jews for the world’s problems. He has apologized before, including in December of 2023, before reverting back to spreading antisemitism, including a salute of Hitler in May or this year. He once again apologized recently, in the wake of the Yom Kippur terror attack in England.

During the Thursday meeting, West said he has bipolar and said he wanted to take accountability for his actions.

I feel really blessed to be able to sit here with you today and just take accountability. I was dealing with some various issues, bipolar also, so it would take the ideas I had and take them to an extreme, where I would forget about the protection of the people around me or and myself.

“I wanted to come and take accountability,” West told the Rav of the Shuva Yisrael community.

“Sometimes people aren’t that knowledgeable about the bipolar and the way you act when you have this disease,” he continued.

“So it’s like if you left the house and you left your kid at the house and your kid went and messed up the kitchen and messed up the garage, the living room, and when you get back, it’s your responsibility, because that’s your child, and that’s the way I look at it, like I got to go clean up the kitchen, living room, I gotta clean up the garage.”

“I really just appreciate you embracing me with open arms and allowing me to make amends. And this is beginning in the first steps and the first brick by brick to build back strong walls.”

Rabbi Pinto responded that “Judaism brought to the world a way for someone, when he regrets  something that he has done wrong, to regret and fix it. Jews live this way.

“I am hugging you and from now on, good things and only good you’re a very good man,” Rabbi Pinto said, before proceeding to embrace West.
