Charedi Soldier Speaks, New Details on Terror Attack and Names for Tefilah

Two terrorists opened fire Monday morning at the Ramot Junction in Yerushalayim, killing six people and wounding several others before being neutralized by a Charedi yeshiva student and an IDF squad commander from the Charedi Chashmonaim Brigade, Arutz Sheva reported.

“I was at the bus stop at the Ramot Junction where the attack occurred. I heard gunshots, I saw people fleeing, and I understood that I had to engage,” the squad commander told Arutz Sheva.

“I exited the bus, and I opened fire on the terrorist together with civilians who were there, until the final neutralization, and from there we proceeded to tend to the victims. I am happy that I was able to do it,” he recounted.

Security officials reported that the attackers left their homes early that morning armed with a Carlo rifle, a handgun, and knives. They met with an accomplice who helped them cross from Palestinian Authority-controlled areas into Israel through a breach near Qalandiya and A-Ram. Another collaborator, who was transporting illegal workers, drove them further.

When the terrorists reached Ramot Junction, they exited the vehicle and opened fire on both a bus and the bus stop, killing six people.Seven more victims suffered serious gunshot wounds, two were moderately wounded, and three sustained light injuries from glass shrapnel. Others were treated for anxiety.

Both terrorists were ultimately neutralized.

Following the attack, the IDF sealed off several villages in the Ramallah region. The gunmen were residents of Kubayba and Katana in the Binyamin area, close to the Jerusalem Hills and Neve Ilan. Among the weapons recovered at the scene was a Carlo rifle, a weapon often produced in Yehudah and Shomron.

The yeshiva student’s brother-in-law described the incident to Kol Barama Radio: “My brother-in-law was on his way to the yeshiva, he has a gun he inherited from his grandfather, and he received the license thanks to [National Security Minister Itamar] Ben Gvir’s reform. He emptied the entire magazine on the terrorists. Eyewitnesses claim that the driver was a partner in the attack.”

Six people were murdered in the attack, among them three in their 30s and a man and woman in their 50s. Seven more were wounded, with one listed in critical condition and four in serious condition.

In response, a large number of IDF forces were dispatched to the area, and all crossings around Yerushalayim were shut down. The investigation into the terrorists’ identities is being conducted by the IDF Central Command in cooperation with Israel Police and the ISA.

One of the injured victims is Rabbi Yaakov Sharabani, a leading figure in the Maor Torah yeshiva and son-in-law of its Rosh Yeshiva, Harav Avraham Salim. He sustained light injuries and was hospitalized in stable condition. The public has been asked to daven for the recovery of Yaakov Chaim ben Tamar Ibon.

Charedi journalist Menachem Kolodetsky called on the public to daven for his cousin, Tova Gittel bas Miriam Shoshana. She was wounded in the attack while in her eighth month of pregnancy and is expecting her first child.
