In a 52-48 vote, the Senate has officially just confirmed Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (RFK) as the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS).
This move marks a major milestone in Kennedy’s journey, despite facing opposition from Democrats and some public health experts.
Republican Senator Mitch McConnell was the sole GOP member to oppose his confirmation. This is McConnell’s third vote against Trump nominees, following his opposition to Hegseth and Gabbard.
As HHS Secretary, Kennedy will oversee multiple high-profile agencies, including the FDA and CDC.
Despite his previous anti vaccine stance, Kennedy has assured senators that he now supports vaccination efforts and will work to protect existing vaccination programs. He has also pledged to tackle the chronic disease epidemic and make America healthy again.
