Iran has indicated it may reduce its uranium enrichment levels in an effort to stop Britain from reimposing United Nations sanctions, The Telegraph reported Sunday.

According to the report, unnamed Iranian officials said Tehran is ready to soften its stance in order to prevent additional military strikes from either Israel or the United States.

Ali Larijani, senior adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and newly appointed secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, is reportedly urging leaders to scale back enrichment levels from 60% to 20% purity.

European governments have warned that if Iran fails to show real progress on the nuclear issue by the end of the month, they are prepared to trigger “snapback” sanctions lifted under the 2015 nuclear agreement.
