Report: New Syrian Regime Trying to Establish Backdoor Channels with Israel

The new Syrian regime is trying to establish backchannel ties with Israel aimed at potential normalization, despite Israeli officials’ public stance against the Islamic rebels who overthrew the previous regime of Bashar al-Assad, Channel 12’s Ariel Oseran reported Tuesday.

Oseran, citing a Syrian source with knowledge of the situation, says that “These efforts are aimed at laying the groundwork for potential normalization between Syria and Israel, and are taking place with the support of Saudi Arabia.”

Oseran cautioned his viewers that despite the timing, the report was not an April Fool’s joke.
