Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer intends to step away from political life ahead of the next national election, according to Hebrew media reports on Monday.

Unnamed senior government officials told Israel Hayom that Dermer has been openly speaking about his plans to retire since Israel’s 12-day campaign against Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile program.

Dermer, a close adviser to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and former Israeli ambassador to the United States, has not yet decided on an exact departure date, but sources say he will leave before voters head to the polls.
