According to new report by Israel’s Channel 14, a senior official from the Trump administration urged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to target key Hezbollah leaders during the funeral of Nasrallah this past Sunday.
While it remains unclear whether the suggestion was made with President Trump’s explicit approval, it is reported to have come from a high-ranking and influential figure within the Trump administration according to Channel 14’s Tamir Morag.
Despite this pressure, Prime Minister Netanyahu ultimately refused to take action. After careful consideration, Israel decided against escalating tensions, opting instead for a show of force through sonic booms over the stadium and funeral procession in Beirut.
The report claims that the decision was made to avoid opening a second front while Israel was preparing for another military operation in Gaza.
