Some advisers to President Trump are privately urging him to begin planning an exit from the Iran war, warning that rising oil prices, falling public support, and political backlash could hurt Republicans if the conflict drags on, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Additionally, the Pentagon spent about $5.6 billion on munitions in the first two days of U.S. strikes on Iran, raising concerns in Congress that the military is rapidly using up limited stocks of advanced weapons, The Washington Post reported.

The report also said the administration is expected to request tens of billions of dollars in additional defense funding from Congress to sustain the military campaign.

Podcaster Joe Rogan is the latest to join the chorus of critics urging President Trump to reconsider his stance on the Iran conflict.

Rogan said earlier Tuesday that Trump supporters “feel betrayed” by the “insane” conflict with Iran.

Rogan said during the latest podcast episode: “Well, it just seems so insane, based on what he ran on. I mean, this is why a lot of people feel betrayed, right?.. He ran on, ‘No more wars,’ ‘End these stupid, senseless wars,’ and then we have one that we can’t even really clearly define why we did it.”

This pressure is in addition to other pressure Trump is getting from Republican Senators and congressmen.
