U.S. President Trump is set to meet Syrian interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa during his upcoming visit to the Middle East in mid-May, a Syrian source told i24 News on Wednesday.

According to the report, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was personally involved in facilitating the meeting.

Trump, in the first foreign visit since the beginning of his second term, will visit Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar during his trip, but the exact dates are not confirmed yet.

“The president will be heading to Saudi Arabia in May. As for specific dates and details, we will be reading those out to you as soon as we possibly can,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said.
