New details have emerged revealing that Mossad agents were operating on the ground in the heart of Beirut during the September 2024 airstrike that killed Hezbollah terrorist leader Hassan Nasrallah.

In a public statement made at a ceremony held in the President’s Residence in Yerushalayim, the Mossad officer in charge of recruitment and agent operations detailed the daring nature of the mission, as reported by Israeli journalist Amit Segal.

“In the operation to eliminate Nasrallah, Mossad agents acted with courage and determination under fire in the heart of Beirut to deliver the precise intelligence for the mission,” the officer stated.

The successful strike on Nasrallah’s underground bunker in the Dahieh suburb was not solely reliant on signals or satellite intelligence, according to the officer. Instead, it involved agents in close proximity to the target, likely providing real-time location data and final verification while facing immediate danger.

The elimination of Nasrallah marked a pivotal moment in the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah. The Israeli Air Force strike, which reportedly used multiple bunker-buster bombs, leveled Hezbollah’s central headquarters. Until now, the exact intelligence-gathering methods that enabled such a precise hit on the deeply buried command center had been a subject of speculation.

“As we celebrate the achievements of the past, behind closed doors brilliant, determined, and creative minds are working tirelessly to prepare the groundbreaking operations of tomorrow and to shape Israel’s security for generations to come,” the officer added.
