On Tuesday evening, rocket sirens were triggered across various regions of Israel, including the southern Golan Heights, central areas, Sharon, and the Shomron, following launches from Syria and Yemen.
According to the IDF, two rockets from Syria landed in open terrain, causing no injuries. Roughly 20 minutes later, additional alarms were sounded due to a missile launch from Yemen, which was successfully intercepted. False alarms were also activated in Nof HaGalil. In all cases, Magen David Adom (MDA) confirmed there were no casualties.
The IDF announced that, in retaliation for the rocket fire from Syria, Israeli forces carried out artillery strikes targeting southern Syria, specifically the areas from which the launches originated.
According to a report by Kan 11, Palestinian sources circulated a claim of responsibility from a previously unknown faction calling itself the “Martyr Muhammad Deif Brigades.” The statement claimed two Grad rockets had been launched at “Zionist forces located in the occupied Golan Heights” at 9:20 a.m. This marks the first time this group has taken credit for an attack in any conflict zone.
Al-Jazeera, which supports Hamas, cited a source from the new terrorist group as saying, “our attacks against the Israeli occupation are a response to the massacres in Gaza, and they will not stop until the bombing of the oppressed in Gaza stops.”
Following the incident, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz issued a stern warning directed at the Syrian regime: “We consider the Syrian president directly responsible for every threat and firing towards the State of Israel, and the full response will come as soon as possible. We will not allow a return to the reality of October 7th.”
Military correspondent Doron Kadosh reported on Galei Tzahal that the rocket fire originated from Tasil, a village in southern Syria roughly 12 kilometers from the Israeli border. The area is part of the Yarmouk region, which has seen frequent IDF activity and is known to host a number of terrorist elements, including Hamas and various jihadist factions. A nearby village, Koya, was previously the scene of an exchange of fire where several terrorists were killed.
Israeli police confirmed that remains of the rockets were discovered near Ramat Magshimim in open areas. Bomb disposal teams and Northern District police units are currently working at the scene to neutralize any remaining threats. Additional searches are ongoing to locate other debris.
In the Shfela region, police are also investigating another suspected impact site. Efforts are underway to isolate the area and remove any further risks to the public. There have been no injuries reported.
Authorities have urged the public to exercise extreme caution around potential impact sites. “In any case of a fall, we urge you to avoid reaching the scene and not to approach or touch rocket remnants that may contain explosives. If there is any concern about a fall, this should be reported without delay to the Israel Police hotline 100,” the police emphasized.
