The IDF spokesperson permitted the release of information on Saturday night that four soldiers were killed in a military operation in the Gaza Strip after an explosive device was detonated, causing a building they were in to collapse.

According to reports, the four soldiers were killed after an explosive device was likely activated against an IDF unit operating in the Beit Hanoun in the northeast of the Gaza Strip. In the incident, one soldier and one officer were seriously injured. The deputy commander of the brigade, a lieutenant colonel, was lightly injured but continued to command the rescue operation calmly while under fire.

The names of the fallen soldiers:

  • Res. Sgt. Maj. Alexander Fedorenko, 37, from Bat Yam
  • Sgt. Major Danila Diakov, 21, from Ma’ale Adumim
  • Sgt. Yehav Maayan, 19, from Modiin
  • Sgt. Eliav Astiokar, 19, from Ashdod – HY”D

According to the details, at around 10:00 AM, an explosive device was detonated, targeting soldiers in the Beit Hanoun area. A large explosion was heard at the site. The initial probe suggests that a powerful explosive device was likely activated against the command post of the deputy commander of the Nachal Brigade. Three soldiers were sadly killed on the spot, and an additional soldier died from his wounds during the evacuation from the area.

Since the start of the Israeli military operation in Gaza, 400 soldiers have fallen in battle, in addition to the 329 soldiers who were killed in the October 7th battles.

Since the beginning of the current operation in the northern Gaza Strip in early October, 50 soldiers have fallen. Among them, 11 soldiers were killed in Beit Hanoun, and 10 soldiers died in the past week alone
