Senior ISIS Leader and Sons Killed in U.S. Raid in Northern Syria

United States Central Command (CENTCOM) forces conducted a raid early Friday morning in al Bab, Aleppo Governate, Syria, that resulted in the death of a senior ISIS leader and his two adult sons, the command announced.

According to a statement from CENTCOM, the operation targeted Dhiya’ Zawba Muslih al-Hardani, identified as a senior leader within the terrorist organization. His two adult sons, Abdallah Dhiya al-Hardani and Abd al-Rahman Dhiya Zawba al-Hardani, who were described as being affiliated with ISIS, were also killed in the raid.

CENTCOM stated that the three individuals “posed a threat to US and Coalition Forces, as well as the new Syrian Government.” The command also noted that civilian casualties were avoided during the operation. “Three women and three children were also on the target and were unharmed,” the statement read.

The operation underscores the ongoing U.S. mission to dismantle ISIS leadership and operational capabilities in the region.

In the announcement, Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla, commander of U.S. Central Command, delivered a stern message to the remnants of the terrorist group: “We will continue to relentlessly pursue ISIS terrorists wherever they are. ISIS terrorists are not safe where they sleep, where they operate, and where they hide. Alongside our partners and allies, U.S. Central Command is committed to the enduring defeat of ISIS terrorists that threaten the region, our allies, and our homeland.”
