Aryeh Deri, the leader of the Shas party, made a secret visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday, spending a few hours in Dubai to meet with a senior Emirati official and discuss matters related to Gaza.
According to details obtained by Belaaz, Deri, who was accompanied by two of his aides, traveled briefly to Dubai, where he met with Abdullah bin Zayed, the UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, a member of the royal family who oversees foreign policy in the region.
The focus of the meeting was the reconstruction of Gaza, in light of the ceasefire and hostage deal.
The Emiratis view Deri as a moderate figure with significant influence on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which is why he was invited for the discussions.
