A quiet community in central Israel was horrfied Friday night, following the discovery of a heart-wrenching scene of desecration at a local shul.
As mispallelim arrived at the Mishkan Shalom Shul, a Yemenite congregation in Kadima-Zoran, near Netanya, to prepare for Kabbalas Shabbos, they were met with a sight of utter devastation.
The inside had been vandalized, with sidurim, seforim and Sifrei Torah treated with shocking disgrace.
Video footage circulating on Motzaei Shabbos revealed the extent of the damage. The floor of the shul was strewn with torn pages from Siddurim and Chumashim. Most painfully, at least two Sifrei Torah were found lying on the ground amidst the debris.
The emotional toll on the kehilla was immediate and profound.
“There has never been a pogrom like this,” the shul administration said in a statement released to the Hebrew press. “After we saw the horrors, we closed the place.”
The community filed a formal complaint with the police immediately after Shabbos.
“We are in shock; this is a terror attack,” one member of the community told Channel 12, expressing the deep pain felt by the congregation. “I arrived at the shul and almost fainted when I saw it. We have no idea who is behind this or why they would do such a thing. There are no words to describe the destruction and damage.”

Israel Police have confirmed that an expedited investigation has been opened to apprehend those responsible for this heinous act.
According to a police spokesperson, an initial examination of the scene found no signs of forced entry, complicating the immediate understanding of how the perpetrators gained access. However, authorities emphasized that “all directions of the investigation are being examined” and that significant resources are being dedicated to bringing the culprits to justice.
For now, the doors of Mishkan Shalom remain closed as the community begins to grapple with the violation of their shul.
