Israeli journalist Yair Levy made a shocking claim Tuesday morning, alleging that Iranian operatives recruited a young man who had left Yeshiva to carry out an arson attack on the Harav Yitzhak Yosef’s shul and that he was the suspect arrested the day before.
According to Levy, the suspect carries a well-known surname with weight in the Sephardi Charedi world and was reportedly lured with financial incentives.
Levy stated, “Findings were seized in the young man’s home that definitely link him to Iran.”
He added that in the days leading up to the incident, the young man was observed spending unusually large sums of money, raising further suspicion.
So far, Levy says that during questioning, the suspect has remained silent.
Israeli authorities have not released information on the suspect arrested.
