Three IDF Soldiers Killed in Gaza Tank Explosion, Investigation Underway

IDF announced today (Monday) that three soldiers were killed in combat in northern Gaza: Sgt. Shlomo Yakir Shram, 20, from Efrat; Sgt. Yuli Faktor, 19, from Rishon LeZion; and Staff Sgt. Shaham Menachem, 21, from Moshav Yardena – HY”D.
All served as tank crew members in Battalion 52 of the Iron Tracks Formation (401st Brigade).The incident occurred at 12:20 PM in Jabalia, northern Gaza, when a powerful explosion struck a Battalion 52 tank. Initial IDF assessments suggest the explosion may have resulted from an operational malfunction or terrorist fire, but the cause remains under investigation.
The blast killed three soldiers and seriously injured another. The tank caught fire, requiring prolonged efforts to extinguish, with fire trucks from Israel dispatched to assist.
The three soldiers bring the total IDF fatalities since the war began to 893, with 449 since the ground operation in Gaza started. In the past two months, 36 soldiers have been killed.
