A heartbreaking tragedy struck the community of Ganei Ayalon Achisamach in Lod with the passing of three-month-old toddler Eliyahu Engel, z”l, who drowned in the bathtub at his home on Friday evening. Despite doctors’ best efforts, he passed away Shabbos morning at Shamir–Assaf Harofeh Hospital in Tzrifin.

B’chadrei Charedim reported that the infant was initially transported to the hospital with a pulse, but his condition deteriorated overnight. Doctors battled to save his life, but he suffered a fatal heart attack on Shabbos morning.

The little Eliyahu, z”l, was the son of Rabbi Elazar Engel, a beloved member of the Achisamach community.

Since the tragic incident, the community’s rabbi, Rabbi Yaakov Lando, has been at the Engel home, offering strength and comfort to the grieving family as they face this unfathomable loss.

The levayah took place at 11:00 p.m. in the Lod bais hachayim.
