Tragedy Strikes Lakewood: 2 Bochurim Killed in Fiery Crash

Two bochurim from Lakewood tragically passed away early Friday morning after a horrific car crash on the Jackson/Lakewood border.
Despite efforts by EMS, Chaim Zelig Berl z”l and Dovid Yitzchok Handler z”l were unable to be revived. Three others were injured, two in serious condition and one in stable condition.
The crash occurred when a van carrying five young passengers veered off of Hope Channel Rd. near the intersection with New Central Avenue, after colliding with a deer and slammed into a tree, bursting into flames.
A passerby who came upon the horrific scene spotted the van engulfed in flames and immediately alerted emergency responders. First responders and members of a local volunteer rescue group quickly arrived at the location to assist.
The levaya of Chaim Zelig was held at Bais Mordechai, located at 1455 heathwood ave)at 4:15pm. Kevura was in Lakewood.
The levaya for Dovid Yitzi was held at 5:00 at the Lakewood chapel, located at 613 Ramsay Ave.
