A recent J.L. Partners poll conducted for the Daily Mail reveals that 53% of Republicans support a Constitutional amendment allowing Donald Trump to run for a third term as president. This new poll is dropped as Trump’s second term is set to begin on January 20 and will expire in 2029. Trump is currently ineligible for re-election due to the Twenty-second Amendment.

The poll’s findings show that younger voters and Black voters are the most supportive of Trump’s potential third term bid. Only 28% of Republicans oppose the idea of a Constitutional amendment to allow Trump to run again.

While Trump has not announced his intentions for 2028, this poll suggests that there is support within the Republican Party for him to seek another term. However, it’s essential to note that any attempt to amend the Constitution would require a two-thirds majority in both the House and Senate, or a convention called by two-thirds of state legislatures.

As Trump’s second term is set to begin shortly, it will be interesting to see how this development plays out and whether Trump will ultimately decide to pursue a third term in 2028.
