The Washington Post reports that Trump’s people have warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that failure to end the Gaza conflict could lead to the U.S. withdrawing support for Israel – “If you don’t end the war, we will abandon you.”

This threat reportedly influenced Israel’s decision to permit aid into Gaza today as a goodwill gesture toward the United States.

A U.S. official later dismissed the Washington Post report, citing an unnamed source, alleging the Trump administration threatened to abandon Israel if the Gaza conflict doesn’t end.

The official admitted there’s disagreements, but said – “the idea that we would abandon Israel is preposterous”

According to a source familiar with internal discussions over the renewal of U.S. military aid to Israel, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu presented the matter to his cabinet as a “technical issue.” However, behind closed doors, pressure from Trump-aligned officials has reportedly intensified in recent days.

Simultaneously, The Wall Street Journal reports that as part of understandings between the U.S. and Hamas surrounding the release of hostage Idan Alexander, American officials pledged to pressure Israel to allow humanitarian aid—food and medicine—into Gaza.

While no specific aid quantities were agreed upon, the U.S. and Qatar both increased pressure on Israel once it became clear that humanitarian assistance was not flowing immediately following Alexander’s release, according to sources involved in ceasefire negotiations.

Today, for the first time since fighting resumed in March, five aid trucks entered Gaza through the Kerem Shalom crossing. The Guardian cited an Israeli official stating that flour, baby formula, and medical supplies were among the items transferred. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Netanyahu held urgent consultations with Ministers Yisrael Katz, Bezalel Smotrich, and Itamar Ben Gvir, along with top defense officials, in order to make sure his coalition members doesn’t threaten to topple his government.
