In a blistering Thanksgiving message shared late Thursday night on Truth Social, President Donald Trump announced a sweeping escalation of his administration’s immigration crackdown, pledging a “permanent pause” on migration from “all Third World Countries” and vowing to strip federal benefits from noncitizens.

The lengthy post, written as a holiday salutation to “Patriots,” framed the current state of U.S. immigration as an existential threat. Citing a foreign-born population of 53 million, the President described the situation as a “refugee burden” responsible for social dysfunction, including “failed schools, high crime, urban decay… and large deficits.”

“I will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries to allow the U.S. system to fully recover,” Trump wrote, declaring that only “reverse migration” could cure the situation.

A portion of the President’s new directive relies on a contested legal theory regarding his predecessor. Trump vowed to “terminate all of the millions of Biden illegal admissions, including those signed by Sleepy Joe Biden’s Autopen.”

This references a theory promoted by the House Oversight Committee and the White House, which alleges that former President Biden’s cognitive decline led to staff members authorizing executive actions and admissions via a mechanical “autopen” without his direct knowledge. By classifying these admissions as unauthorized, the Trump administration appears poised to bypass standard revocation procedures, treating the legal status of millions as null and void ab initio.

The President leveled attacks against the leadership of Minnesota, pointing to the state’s Somali community. He stated that that “Somalian gangs are roving the streets looking for ‘prey’” and accused Governor Tim Walz of incompetence.

“The seriously retarded Governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, does nothing,” Trump wrote, before pivoting to attacks on Rep. Ilhan Omar, whom he disparaged for her “swaddling hijab” and questioned her entry into the country.

The statement come just days after the administration moved to revoke Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Somali nationals, a move that Minnesota leaders have vowed to fight in court.

Trump pledged to:

End all federal benefits and subsidies to noncitizens.

Denaturalize migrants deemed to “undermine domestic tranquility.”

Deport any foreign national considered a “public charge” or incompatible with “Western Civilization.”

The President claimed that a migrant earning $30,000 can receive roughly $50,000 in yearly benefits, likely referring to Medicaid, food stamps, and other programs.

Legal experts anticipate immediate challenges to the “Third World” pause, citing the Immigration and Nationality Act’s non-discrimination clauses, though the Supreme Court has previously given the executive branch broad deference on national security grounds.

The President concluded his message with a stark warning to his political opponents and those he deems enemies of the state: “You won’t be here for long!”
