Amid pro terrorism protests in an increasingly hostile environment, the Trump Administration announced Friday that it is cutting over $400 million in funding to Columbia University, accusing the school of not doing enough to rein in antisemitism.
Columbia receives over $5 billion in grants from the government.
Earlier this week, several government agencies announced the starter of a “comprehensive review” of more than $5 billion in federal grant money that goes to Columbia, “in light of ongoing investigations for potential violations of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act” related to antisemitism on campus.
Meanwhile, the State Department began making good on another Trump initiative; deporting pro Hamas immigrants.
“Yesterday evening, we revoked the first visa of an alien who was previously cited for criminal behavior in connection with Hamas-supporting disruptions,” a State Department spokesperson said. “This individual was a university student. ICE will proceed with removing this person from the country.”
Details about the individual and the arrest were not yet available.
