U.S. President Donald J. Trump made a striking intervention into Israeli internal affairs, publicly defending Prime Minister Benjamin “Bibi” Netanyahu and demanding the cancellation of his ongoing corruption trial. In a fiery social media post, Trump positioned himself as a protector of the Israeli leader, citing their shared history and Netanyahu’s leadership.
Trump expressed shock at the continuation of what he called a “ridiculous Witch Hunt” against Netanyahu, who he praised as a “Great War Time Prime Minister.” He highlighted their joint efforts against Iran, stating, “Bibi and I just went through HELL together, fighting a very tough and brilliant longtime enemy of Israel, Iran, and Bibi could not have been better, sharper, or stronger in his LOVE for the incredible Holy Land.” He further lauded Netanyahu as a “WARRIOR, like perhaps no other Warrior in the History of Israel,” crediting him with preventing a major nuclear threat.
The U.S. President criticized the legal proceedings, which he described as a “politically motivated case” involving “unfair charges” like “cigars, a Bugs Bunny doll, and numerous other unfair charges” since May 2020. Trump argued that this marks the first time a sitting Israeli Prime Minister has faced trial, calling it a “Horror Show” and a “TRAVESTY OF ‘JUSTICE’ CAN NOT BE ALLOWED!”
In a bold call to action, Trump insisted, “He deserves much better than this, and so does the State of Israel. Bibi Netanyahu’s trial should be CANCELLED, IMMEDIATELY, or a Pardon given to a Great Hero, who has done so much for the State.” He emphasized their close alliance, noting, “Perhaps there is no one that I know who could have worked in better harmony with the President of the United States, ME, than Bibi Netanyahu.” Trump concluded by asserting that “it was the United States of America that saved Israel, and now it is going to be the United States of America that saves Bibi Netanyahu.”
