President Trump on Friday shut down online speculation about his health, offering a straightforward explanation for the large bruise spotted on his hand.

“I clipped it on [a] table,” the 79-year-old Command in Chief told reporters when asked about the mark on his left hand during his appearance in Davos, Switzerland.

He added that the bruise appeared more dramatic because of the high dose of aspirin he takes daily, noting that he has had similar bruising in recent weeks.

“They say take aspirin if you like your heart, but don’t take aspirin if you don’t want to have a little bruising. I take the big aspirin,” Trump told reporters.

Addressing his medication regimen, the president said doctors had told him the aspirin wasn’t strictly necessary, but he preferred to err on the side of caution.

“The doctor said, ‘You don’t have to take that, sir. You’re very healthy.’ I said, ‘I’m not taking any chances.’”

Trump said the most recent bruise showed up after he struck his hand against a table while attending the World Economic Forum in Davos.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt later confirmed the account, saying the president hit his hand on the corner of the signing table during the announcement of his “Board of Peace.”

Earlier this month, Trump told the Wall Street Journal that he takes more aspirin than his doctors advise because he wants “nice, thin blood pouring through my heart.”

Trump is the second-oldest individual to serve as president, behind President Joe Biden.
