President Trump hosted a group of the recently released hostages and their families for an Oval Office meeting that was scheduled for 2:00 PM on Thursday afternoon, but was somewhat delayed.
A source who attended the emotional meeting tells Belaaz that the president told one of the hostages: “you lost a lot of weight, you look good, stay that way. You look better than me…”
A White House source told Belaaz that the hostages were set to arrive at 1:00 PM. A reception featuring kosher food will also be served.
During the meeting, Trump told the former captives and their families, “You’re not a hostage anymore… today you’re heroes,” according to footage released by the White House. According to a source in attendance, Trump spoke with each hostage individually.
In exclusive Belaaz footage, Trump said to the released hostages – “We took a hard stand, a dangerous stand in many ways….we got you back”
Trump said of survivor Matan Angrest: “Because of service in the IDF, Matan was subjected to severe beatings, even at times losing consciousness. And alone and under a special guard, he went through hell. I guess you really were. I’ve heard stories that were not good. Look at you, how good you look. It just made you tougher, right? It did, made you tougher. But Matan never broke, and today he’s a living testimony to the toughness, heart, and faith of the Jewish people. Great knowing you, you’re great inspiration to everybody, whether you’re Jewish or not.”
The Berman twins presented Trump with a mezuzah that was rescued from their destroyed Kfar Aza home.
Trump gave each hostage one of his presidential challenge coins, as seen in video shared exclusively with Belaaz.
Belaaz has also learned that several prominent Jewish leaders were invited.
The meeting comes a day after the hostages met with a bipartisan group of lawmakers in Washington DC.
